Healesville Sanctuary
On Thursday the 15th of August our entire school visited Healesville Sanctuary for a day of learning and exploration.
Students enjoyed a self-guided tour, with Year 10’s participating in the Eco Systems program, directly tying into their Science and Geography studies.
Year 11 students used the visit to expand on their “Understanding Issues and Voices” topic for their Literacy unit, by exploring how the sanctuary give voice to the issues that face Australian Flora and Fauna.
The year 12 students continued to explore Advocacy by documenting the advocacy found within the Sanctuary for Indigenous Australians, their History and Culture as well as exploring additional information on their chosen endangered Australian animal and how the sanctuary are advocating for them.
It was a fantastic day connecting classroom concepts with real-world experiences.
