Year 12 Hardrock Indoor Climbing
On Friday 16th February the year 12 students went to Hardrock Indoor Climbing Centre as part of the Personal Development curriculum, looking at teamwork and communication. We had a mix of emotion with some students quite anxious with others excited to do something new. Upon arrival students were taken through a safety induction, instructions on the equipment, and how to use it safely. Students then broke into pairs and using the practice walls were signed off on their understanding of the instructions and allowed to attempt the high walls, this is when the spider monkeys really shone…
Before we knew it, we had students climbing the walls (literally), whilst their partners called up encouragement and instructions. Whilst most loved climbing the walls, a couple really came into their own on belay (managing the ropes for there climber) and giving direction.
All in all, it was a great day with everyone who went enjoying themselves.
